DAY FORTY TWO
Our stay in Bhubaneswar was in a home stay with a family, on the edge of the city jungle. We were shown the jungle from a balcony where wild elephant can be seen in the evening.
Having ridden our bikes into the city traffic, experiencing the total chaos of city riding, thankfully, drivers obeyed the traffic lights & white uniformed traffic police, but people (mainly car drivers) still drove up the wrong side of the road, randomly parked in the middle of the lane (bottle-necking the flow) & pulled out of side roads without looking or giving way. So, to preserve physical safety & mental sanity, we switched to using Uber auto rickshaws to get around, leaving our bicycles locked up at the homestay.

We visited many more temples (Bhubaneswar is known as “The City of Temples”), with more well-fed Brahmins, including seeing a very busy temple kitchen.

We also started our “going-home” shopping. Handloom Sambalpur lungi & shirts, copper drinking bottles, handicraft trinkets for the grand daughters, plus a trip to the massive Reliance SMART Superstore, the new style supermarkets of middle class idea.
