DAY SIXTEEN… 56.89 miles (91.60 km)
Back on the road this morning for a 57mile ride. Beautifully cool, too cool ride through forest scrub. At one point definitely heard the sound of a tiger (I’d asked our hotel proprietor to make the sound for me last night). A low grrrrr sound. No view though.
Tim tells me that the route ahead goes right through a tiger reserve!! “Don’t worry,’ he assures me, ‘the tigers won’t go anywhere near the road’ . This could become a famous quote if we are alive to make it so. There are, apparently also leopards, if the tigers miss us.

As the sun came up the road became busier and busier. More and more lorries and buses and horrid SUV’s driving at frightening speeds. Glad to shift to a quieter road at 22miles, not without its hazards (less passing room). A new question today from a fellow traveller…. Not where are you travelling, but why are you travelling? Interesting.

6.45pm Sitting in one of India’s millions of mediocre hotels, a bit grubby, still expensive (£35) Apparently, it’s deluxe. It does have a kettle, cups and tea and the sheets are cleanish, so I can’t complain.
