DAY TWENTY EIGHT
The effects of poisoning still continue. Night sweats, weakness, nausea. We’ve decided to change our schedule and head for a rural jungle retreat, deep in Odisha’s heart. Taking a taxi, we drove through rural Odisha where people were gathering in the rice crops, drying the grain on the motorways (obviously), threshing and sacking it up.

We arrived at the Odisha tourist eco-lodge in a wildlife sanctuary run by local tribal people. It’s exorbitantly overpriced but feels like a life saver. It’s all very eco and nature loving and there are 3 full meals a day, plus tiffin & bed tea! No chance of getting hungry and a good opportunity to eat for England, and regain a bit of weight. No sooner had we set foot in our “cottage”, than we were whisked off for our lunch in the canteen overlooking a huge lake. After this, we were taken on a free boat ride to see some birds on the lake. Everyone is very enthusiastic and keen on the natural life around them.
