DAY THIRTY FIVE.. 57.29 miles (92.2 km)
Long ride (nearly 60 miles) today. The bounce has gone out of my bottom. Even though the roads were smooth, the whole thing has become more painful. Lots of jungle with lots of resident pesky monkeys, waiting for passers-by who ignore the “Do not feed the Monkeys” signs.

For the first time we ride past the dreaded Naxalite signs on houses (the hammer and sickle). I am very keen to ride on and get away as quickly as possible.

Finally, we arrive at the village on the lake’s edge. We hope for a luxury cottage. The price is right for luxury, but the cottage does not reflect our dreams. Its small, there is no soap, it’s shabby, the meals are exorbitantly priced and the insect life that came in through the gaps in the door this evening is definitely more than the resident gecko is going to manage. We retire to bed under a mosquito net, hoping not to get bitten.
