DAY ONE… 51.5 miles (82.5 km)
We rose early today. The Slovakian men’s choir, camped near us are flat out in their sleeping bags under a tarp. We left the campsite about 9am and had a nice ride along by the Danube on a poor road with busy stretches, but we discovered some longer stretches along cycle paths on top of dykes.
We cycled through the paprika area. Apparently, at times this area is just full of red paprika. Now it is largely green plants with big red paprika hanging off some of them, like huge chillies. We are passing through the special Hungarian paprika villages. There is even a paprika museum.
We’ve also notice traditional horse and carts for travel.
Tonight, we are staying in an apartment, thank God. It is absolutely chucking it down. We are so grateful for our little place with a kitchen bathroom and even two bedrooms!
